TALENTED & GIFTED

       Recognizing and Nurturing Student Potential

North Stonington Public Schools is committed to recognizing and supporting students who demonstrate exceptional abilities and potential. Our Talented & Gifted Program provides opportunities for students to engage in meaningful learning experiences that foster creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic growth.

Giftedness may be demonstrated in a variety of ways, including academic achievement, intellectual ability, creativity, leadership, and specific talents.

       Identification Process

North Stonington Public Schools uses a comprehensive, multi-criteria process to identify students for Talented & Gifted services. No single assessment determines eligibility.

The identification process may include:

  • Universal screening

  • Cognitive assessment data

  • Academic achievement

  • Classroom performance

  • Teacher recommendations

  • Parent input

  • Additional evidence of exceptional ability or potential

Multiple data points are reviewed to ensure a fair and equitable identification process.

       Programming

Talented & Gifted services are designed to provide appropriately challenging learning opportunities that encourage students to develop their strengths and reach their full potential.

Programming may include:

  • Enrichment opportunities

  • Differentiated instruction

  • Advanced learning experiences

  • Project-based learning

  • Opportunities for creativity and critical thinking

Services are designed to meet the individual strengths and needs of identified students.
